Love, Trust, Courage, Respect – Let Your Light Shine!

Zoom Party

We will be having our final Opal Zoom session this Thursday at 11:30 and I thought we could have a party.

I have organised some games to play.

You will need paper and something to write with, a metal spoon (dessert size is best, maybe teaspoon or soup spoon) and a chocolate coated biscuit eg digestive, hobnob, jaffa cake.

I look forward to seeing you all.

Term 6 week 6

English

You have all been doing lots of lovely writing whilst at home; poems, story plans, posters, plays and much, much, more. This week is a skills-based week going over some SPaG to review your understanding before Year 4. If there are any things you have forgotten then the BBC Daily lessons https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/tags/zmyxxyc/year-3-and-p4-lessons have short videos and practice exercises that you might like to watch for all this week’s topics. They are quite fun! You do not have to do all the work sheets, and some have more than one exercise, so have a look at them before you choose. If you do not have access to a printer you can copy the sentences into your book. You may prefer to just do the exercises on the BBC lessons.

Monday –nouns, pronouns, adjectives and noun phrases

Maths

The final maths unit for year three is Capacity. There are PowerPoints to work through with activities and questions on. They are saved as both Ppt and PDF depending what device you are using. I have also set times-table exercises on matheletics and you can always practice using TT Rock Stars.

Friday – matheletics and TT rock stars

Science- Speed dispersal

Work your way through the PowerPoint.

Seed Dispersal

There is a seed sorting activity. If you have a printer then print out the images. If you want to print all the sorting pages too you can, or you could create a table like the example attached. If you do not have a printer you could draw or write the seeds onto a table. The important thing is that you understand how seeds are spread.

Seed Dispersal Sorting Activity

Table with example

Maybe you could find some seed when you are out on a walk. My children love throwing sticky darts at each other!! What kind of dispersal is this?

Lesson 6 – Zaccheaus, the Tax Collector

Do you remember the tax collector from the story in week 2? What sort of people were tax collectors in Jesus’ time? Would you want to have tea with a tax collector? In today’s story we learn that Jesus chose to have tea at the home of a tax collector called Zaccheaus.

You can find the story on the PowerPoint, in your Children’s Bible or watch it on YouTube.

T2-R-135-Zacchaeus-the-Tax-Collector-Bible-Story-Powerpoint_ver_1 (1)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5BjtbJFz2ug

Task – retell the story in your own way: a comic strip, a written piece, a poem or use the attached cut and stick activity

zacchaeus cut and stick story

OR – imagine you are Zacchaeus. Write a letter to your villagers explaining how you are going to change and why?

You might like to end your learning by singing along to this song

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkd-QFD7vMA

Prayer – Help me lord. Lord help me to be a better person: a better son/daughter, a better brother/sister and a better friend. Help me to understand others better and help me to listen to others better. Help me to forgive the people that have hurt me. Help me to continue to share your words lord. Amen

Enjoy your week and look out for information about our final Zoom meeting on Thursday – we’re having a party!

Week 5 RE

Lesson 5 – Jesus heals the blind beggar Bartimaeus

Cover your eyes up with your hands for a moment. What can you see? It’s all dark, isn’t it? What do we call someone who can’t see at all? Blind.

Nowadays there are all kinds of things to help people who can’t see. Long white canes, guide dogs, computers that you can type messages on that read things aloud! But did they have that kind of help in Jesus’ time? No. If you were blind, it was a huge problem, you couldn’t get a job, you couldn’t keep your family, every day someone would have to lead you out to sit by the road, with your cloak and your begging bowl.

You’d sit there all day, calling out to anyone you heard passing by “ Please can you spare some money for a poor blind man? Please can you help me?”. Not much of a life was it, day in and day out?

You can find the story on the PowerPoint in your Children’s Bible or watch it on you tube.

t-t-2545933-jesus-heals-a-blind-man-bible-powerpoint-story-_ver_2 (1)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X4qZ2KSbdxI

Task – complete the worksheet which helps you to think about both the story and those less fortunate than ourselves.

Jesus helps the blind man task

Prayer – Dear lord please let us pray for those less fortunate than ourselves. Please pray for those who are suffering as we speak. At some point in everybody’s life everyone will need help. Please give us all the strength to help other people. Thank you for the beautiful gifts I have in my life: my friends and my family. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
